The usage of plastic, the third most used material by man, has an uncontrolled impact on the health of human beings themself and on the environment. In fact, every year around 400 million tons of plastic are produced worldwide, of which only a 30% is properly disposed of and recycled, while it is estimated that over 100 million tons are lost in open nature every year.
GPS Standard is therefore pleased to present the new "Plastic free" project, which aims to reduce the consumption of plastic within the company and, consequently, to combat pollution. The project involves replacing of disposable plastic bottles with ones that can be reused infinitely, as well as the replacement of plastic coffee cups with glass and/or paper cups. Thanks to this project, the goal of GPS Standard is to reduce the consuntion of half-liter bottles by 8,000 units, coffee cups by 9,000 units and plastic spoons by 9,000 units every year.
These figures sum up to about 140 kg of plastic less per year for the production of which the environment will save 140 kg of oil and 2,500 liters of water and avoid the emission of about 450 kg of CO2 equivalent, to which need to be added approximately other 850 kg of CO2 due to transportion, for a total of 1.3 tons of CO2 less per year.
Respecting the environment is everyone's responsibility. GPS Standard wants to do its part and thanks you for the attention and respect you dedicate to the environment every day.
